Alexander Castineiras, 29, of Washingtonville, was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into the robbery at the bank at 800 Broadway around 10 a.m. Thursday, said Det. Lt. Joseph Burns.
Castineiras, who was wearing a black hoodie that partly concealed his face, did not display a weapon, police said.
He fled westbound on Broadway on foot before jumping into a white vehicle near Route 17 K and the Town of Newburgh line, Burns said.
Newburgh police were assisted by the City of Port Jervis Town of Warwick, and the Village of Greenwood Lake police departments, as well as the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
Castineiras was charged with third-degree robbery and is being held pending arraignment.
